3-31-2009 The Look, the Sound ...

I was eating tacos outside at a St. Petersburg restaurant and my ears were blasted off by a passing motorcycle cop.  Really?  I'm paying for this dude to ride a way overpriced noise-maker he modified?  Really professional.  It's bad enough regular people turn their motorcycles into obnoxious fart-blasters, but when the people who should be policing noise violators are instead causing those violations, in a downtown pedestrian area no less, and on the taxpayer's dime, things have gone askew.

I forgot to report the noise violator's license plate, but I think reporting it to the police would put the fox in charge of the hen house.  So, I'll also write the City Nuisance Abatement Board.  Apparently, the City has a new noise ordinance as of last year, but it goes way beyond motorcycle popping to far quieter sounds, like lawn mowers before 11AM on Sunday.
